Chronic fatigue, or sleeping too much during the day, can show up in two ways: In the "simple" form, you can still do your daily tasks even though you feel tired and dull. But some people are so tired that they can't do the things they need to do every day. In this case, it can be called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It causes memory loss and trouble concentrating, trouble making decisions, pain in the muscles and joints, extreme tiredness after physical work, and a loss of motivation and performance. Experts talk about viral infections, hormonal problems, stress, toxins in the environment, and immune system problems as possible causes. But most people don't know what's really behind this strange problem of sleeping too much during the day. Sleep apnea machine, in which you stop breathing for a few seconds at a time while you sleep, is the most common and well-known cause of pathological daytime sleepiness. The illness usually starts with snoring that is annoying but seems harmless for a few years. In the end, though, many patients end up having an increasing number of short, loud snorts or rattles that stop their breathing at night. These breaks in breathing cause pronounced nocturnal hypoxia and, as a result, a lack of restorative value in sleep, which is what makes people sleepy during the day. If sleep apnea isn't treated, it can lead to problems like high blood pressure, irregular heart rhythm, heart attack, and stroke. Another common type is sleeping too much during the day because of a bad diet, which causes big changes in blood sugar and a lack of important nutrients, especially carbohydrates. When this is the cause of your excessive daytime sleepiness, however, a complete change in your diet with lots of fresh, unprocessed foods like vegetables, salads, fruit, fish, and whole grains can help. Next, we'll talk about a type of tiredness that comes from other diseases. Cancer, kidney or liver disease, hormonal problems, metabolic disorders, anemia, allergic reactions, the thyroid gland, and depression can all cause people to sleep too much during the day. Some drugs and their side effects can also make people sleepy during the day. This is especially true for older people with multiple diseases. But feeling tired for a long time is mostly caused by having too much on your mind and feeling overwhelmed. In milder cases, this fatigue is usually caused by the stress of having to do well at work. But control means making sure there are times to rest and recover, and winning at least during that time can cause daily stress. You should not plan your weekend so that you have to run from one appointment to the next. Take breaks often so that your body can heal itself. Burnout can happen when you are constantly overworked and sleep too much during the day. This can leave you feeling not only drained and empty, but also like you no longer enjoy your family, friends, or leisure activities. This could lead to loneliness and depression.
